Paying 420 yen for a bank transfer (with no human input) or charging 240 yen for branch to branch transfer is crazy! Banking in Japan is 3rd world. 1. teller windows close at 3pm. 2. Transfer, deposit service stops at 6pm and not available on the weekends. 3. Every 3rd Saturday evening ALL ATM's being turned off... reason and I quote "The machines need to rest." 4. Closing ATM's over most national holidays. ......... and wonder why they make a profit. Crazy 3rd world system here.

Yes, it is crazy Noborito to close ATM's for all those days over New Years, but I believe the Post Office ATM's were open. It is easier ot leave the country over New Year's. Airport money people are open, but do not get their too late, as Narita basically shuts down too.
