“India has a ‘Look East’ policy, and it seems Japan has a ‘Look at India’ policy,” he said

Very doubtful, Many Japanese feel going to Mars is nearer than going to Mumbai. For Japan (like it or not) China is the nearest and best destination as far as trade is concerned.

Not so . . . .India's population is growing exponentially . . . Moreover, the people of India have always been favoraby disposed to Japan . . .THAT is what makes the Japan India tie almost risk-free and lucratve..

"Japan’s immaculate streets" Lately the Japanese streets where I am are becoming pot-holled and covered in weeds. It seems the council does not have the money to pay for weed cutting, partly because when a worker is using a strimmer, there are two other workers behind him carrying a net to prevent grit being chucked in the path of cars and pedestrians, and partly because of all the public debt which exists also at a regional level. I weeded the streets by hand on the way to work.

This may be the last time Japan aids India financially. I hope that economic cooperation works.

Roll out the red carpet for Japanese firms, that is a very smart move. All South East Asian country should do the same. Well done Sir!
