NEC rebounds from losses on smartphone exit

Operating profit ballooned to 21.5 billion yen from a year-earlier profit of 379 million yen, as the firm cut away its money-losing smartphone unit and focused on conventional handsets.

A 2% operating profit margin is hardly "balooning". Sure its better than a loss, but it is no where near what is needed to keep the company growing in such an internationally competitive market.
