New York drugstore Kiehl's to open in Isetan

TOKYO —

A drugstore operating out of New York City’s East Village since 1851, Kiehl’s is finally getting around to launching its first branch in Tokyo. The new outlet, located in Shinjuku Isetan, will offer over 140 balms and beauty products, all made with natural ingredients and eschewing preservatives.

Yet Kiehl’s is still sticking to its “no advertising” policy, preferring that customers learn about the company through word of mouth. Before the store opens Nov 6, shoppers are invited to take part in a “nine-week discovery program,” during which a special counter will be set up on Isetan’s second floor, where trained staff will offer one-on-one counseling and provide sample products tailored to suit your needs.
