Everyone hurting from the strong yen.

Ridiculous that their cars emain expensive in Japan and have gone up in price over last 2 years. Deflation doesn't work in the auto industry.

In business profit is profit, its an arrogance to compare to the year before. Markets change with peoples taste, and the economic climate. Nissan might have gone the same way as all those other japanese household names had it not been for Ghosn and the tie up with Renault. So just stay focussed and concentrate on what the market wants. A 10 yen profit is better than a 500 million yen loss.

Japanese auto industry is going way downhill for quite a long time, many famous models have been discontinued as most of the makers are nowdays concentrating on eco cars or mini cars! And taking production overseas will not only hurt the local Japanese economy but greater damage will be done to the quality what has been the symbol of economic Japanese vehicles for a while....

"hurt by strong yen' seems to be an accuse for many Japanese companies, when "we cannot keep up with the competitions due to our inability to innovate" is far more true
