Nissan releases all-new DAYZ

Nissan Motor Co on Friday launched its all-new minicar Nissan DAYZ. The new Nissan DAYZ, the first minicar for which Nissan participated in the development from the onset of the product planning phase, achieves fuel economy of 29.2 km/L (in JC08 mode testing) – the best among height wagon-type minicars – thanks to the newly-developed three-cylinder engine, continuously variable transmission (CVT) with sub-planetary gear, and its lightweight body.

This qualifies DAYZ for preferential tax breaks under the Japanese "tax system to promote the diffusion of environmentally friendly vehicles", thereby fully exempting it from the automobile acquisition tax and automobile weight tax.

With a dynamic exterior and high-quality feel interior, the new DAYZ adopts the Around View Monitor technology and touch-screen automatic air-conditioning system for the first time in minicars, offering customers greater comfort and convenience than ever before. The car also adopts other enhancements, including super UV-cut heat insulated green glass for the front doors (which filters out 99% of UV rays), Emergency Stop Signal, Comfort Flasher and electric automatic retractable door-lock-linked remote control body-colored door mirrors.

Following the new DAYZ, Nissan will release the second minicar in the Nissan DAYZ series, a super-height wagon, Nissan DAYZ ROOX, in early 2014.

It's a really nice kei car and it's about time Nissan got into the kei game.

But why can't Daihatsu and Nissan make any that don't look like exact replicas of the Wagon R? The headlights and body are identical.

After a year or two it'll be worth half the retail value......

Actually Kei's hold their resale value better than normal cars in Japan.

I'm still waiting for Japan to make a Kei that actually looks good though. They all look terrible.

paps, the Daihatsu Copen is a stylish car. Suzuki Jimney is sporty. Mira Gino's retro design might appeal to some.

This article is a straight ad for this car.

What is unusual about it, but not mentioned here, (except they: 'participated in the development') is that the car is being produced in a joint venture with Mitsubishi at Mitsubishi's factory. Since the manufacturing equipment is all in place, Nissan need no plant to produce their badged version. The Mitsubishi version will be 100 dollars cheaper than the Nissan.

It's called the Japanese media. They all do it, they just print the same thing released from "press releases"

All the fun we can with the special models. Daisy painted cute model (Daisy Day-Z). The all black limited edition with extra sound options (The Jay-Z X Day-Z). The Extra plush 'Comfort' edition (The Lazy Day Z). I would love to be on Nissan's marketing team right now. The Rough X Cute model (The DayZ DOOX)

Mitsubishi has the better rims and the Nissan has the better grill = your $100 buys the Nissan chrome grill accent.

"electric automatic retractable door-lock-linked remote control body-colored door mirrors"

Door mirror aficionados must be drooling.
