Nissan ties up with U.S. firm to boost business in India

TOKYO —

Nissan Motor Co has tied up with The Westmont Group of the United States to beef up its auto sales in India. The major Japanese automaker will consign marketing operations and after-sales services to Hover Automotive India Private Ltd, a company set up in Mumbai in April by Westmont Group, which runs hotels and real estate businesses.

Nissan and its French partner, Renault SA, are set to launch a joint automobile plant in southern India in early 2010. Nissan plans to increase its vehicle sales in India to 100,000 units in fiscal 2012 from 450 units in 2007.
