What the hell for ???

Gee folks, don't we already know, by every economic model readily available, that auto sales will slump over the next few years ! Why is Japan incorporated so hell bent on losing more money on the US market ? This is more poor investment strategy by the Japanese, who at this time next year, will by whining on and on about how they lost money on the US market. I say stop the presses, focus your expansion on China... but to do that... yer gonna have to play nice !

Actually, there is method in this madness. Nissan's brain is in France a la Carlos Ghosn. New models are in the works which are NiMeHydride hybrids, and which will be in vogue by 2010 and onwards. Toyota is working on similar vehicles, as are others. This is pre-positioning in a market that is evolving, while the US big and not-so-big 3 are not keeping up with either fuel-efficiency demands and/or pricing for a possible US$200 or more barrel of oil. Trust me, these guys don't even go to the bathroom without a plan!

Thank heavens you're not on my marketing strategy team. The slump in auto sales will affect consumer vehicles. Commericial vehicles by necessity have to keep on going, and with the big 3 still churning out fuel guzzling old technology models, it's a prime market to offer fuel efficient current technology commercial vehicles, traits which are of paramount concern to all aspects of the transportation industry, including trucks, rail, aircraft and ships.

Sorry I didn't read anything in the article that says Nissan was planning on creating "green" commercial vehicles.
