I was amazed that the same UNIQLO sweater that in Japan cost 1900yen was around 7000yen in the UK store...I thought UNIQLO was cheap until I went there in the London.

Place is a bleeding rip off. I went there wiv me daughter Rita when she came to visit me from scouse land. The prices was rip off a dn the clothes was cissy. I wouldn't wear muck like that, especially at disgustingly inflated prices by an over rated japanese retailer.
My advice, go down Petticoat Lane.

It's definitely overpriced in London. But heck I still bought a pair of boxer shorts there :)

London Uniqlo prices are horrific!

I can believe it - I remember being shocked at the prices in Muji on Oxford Street when I was visiting from Japan.

Yeah, this happens both ways. Check out Banana Republic, Burberry, etc.. in Japan. The trend is over time the gap is narrowed, but it's quite a shock in the beginning.
Daiso's a good example of a modest markup - only 50% (everything priced $1.50)
