ala Steve Jobs Olympus should hire back Woodford.

He is still with the firm and noone has answered where the money went. Just getting him out of the spotlight.

The shares have been fluctuating for the past few days. Speculators are taking them for a ride.

Let's see if they will really answer where the money went in this press conference, but I doubt it.

It is certainly positive that Kikukawa has stepped down. But the company needs to do a lot more. It is not that their explanations have left investors dissatisfied. Rather that there has been no explanation of any kind so far.

only Olympus stock seems volatile not TSE as predicted by experts. Anyway, it is likely to settle around current level.

Takayama also claims nothing wrong was done, he was another one of the directors who voted Woodford out.

The New York Times article pf 24th October suggest that the usual anti-social elements were involved, with a couple of rather dubious Japanese brothers who also ran consulting firms, advising on another 700 million dollars of investments into areas of little interest to Olympus's core business, and which 75% were written off within a year of the deal. It seems that most of these brothers investments lost money, a rather good way of passing on sums of money to 3rd or 4th parties.

It looks as is if the FBI probe might be the most revealing...

    @gogogo

whaaaaaat?!?!? jobs started and built up apple. woodford was just an exec they made president. jobs was canned because he was a control freak who couldn't work well with authority. wooodford was canned because he was about to expose a scandal. there are absolutely no similiarities between the two.

Please stay on topic. Steve Jobs is not relevant to this discussion.

@bentheredonthat: I wasn't referring to the departure, I was referring to the fact the company admitted they made a mistake in getting rid of the wrong person.

I agree with out posters if Olympus thinks everything is okay now that this guy is kicked out they are wrong.... I hope the FBI truly investigates this, seems Japan inc. isn't doing anything about it and wants it also to go away... must be something alot of Japanese companies do if that is the case.

Nobody knows that. It could go either way. That is why it is called speculation.

Kikukawa resigned as it was found that he was a outright liar.

Olympus should come clean or be criminally investigated.............

If Woodford did cause the stir....Olympus would have been in peace, share price remains what it was, Shortie would still be the boss and Olympus need not worry much....and some of us gaijins here would have the chance to be the President of a J company. If, only if.........:) I hope Mr Woodford got what he wanted and sleep well at night.

AWESOME to know the shortie stepped down. Its never too late. Now question is where is that money gone and how to bring it back to company?

Takayama san - its time for you to chnage way things are working below your nose. Be a hero and not imitate Kikuwa.

Kikuwa san yoroshiku oengaitashimasu. You bow your head or ass in front of media but spit out the money instead of highly polite apology.

I will buy the Olympus products only when Michael is on board.

We must not let Kikuwa go to enjoy happily with no work and all the money he made in shady deals. I hope to see his next to Horie sacho in jail discussing plans for next life.

    Rob
