Embattled Japanese electronics giant Sharp on Monday warned it was on track to lose nearly 84 billion yen in the half-year through September owing to a slump in demand for its smartphone screens.

Predictable.

The company blamed a sharp downturn in smartphone-screen demand in China for its latest expected loss of 84 billion yen in April-September,

Equally pedictable -- blame those darn Chinese consumers for not buying enough smartphones. Certainly couldn't be a result of management incompetence and an inability to see the market beyond Japan?!

The once-mighty firm, like rivals Sony and Panasonic, has been working to move past years of gaping deficits, partly caused by steep losses in its television unit,

Finally, the real truth. They hung on too long in a segment that had long before turned to SK, Taiwan and China, so they are still bloated with un-profitable assests. Japan Inc. in a microcosm. And going to be repeated over and over again.
