Shiseido to recall 1.14 million eyelash curlers

TOKYO —

Shiseido Co said Monday it will exchange about 1.14 million eyelash curlers with new ones at no charge due to possible defects that caused slight injuries to two users earlier this year.
   
Subject to the recall are the Maquillage edge free eyelash curler products manufactured between January 2007 and May 2008 in lots A through V, with the capital letter of the respective lot marked on them, Shiseido said. A Shiseido official said there have been reports of 87 cases in which two connecting parts broke due to metal fatigue when the curler was applied in a relatively strong manner, and two people sustained minor injuries to their eyes in June and September.
