No, now it will not be single shock like Sony or Toyota, People should get ready for multiple shocks and get used to red ink figures. Everything has a life span and j-products are no exception.

@ some14some this has nothing to do with lifespan...the global economy going into red ink and big corporations are the first to show it. Next the support companies will start to go under or hit hard times.

Sony products have been in decline for a while. Poor quality and an almost programmed self destruct date in most of their products. If consumers are buying today, they are buying items that they feel confident will last. So I do think that brand and quality have something to do with this.
But the root problem is clearly that people are not spending because they cannot anticipate where the economy is going. So we are in a viscious cycle of fear that may undo everything.

Sony used to have the tech world in its pocket, but the recent events with battery recalls and product defects have put them in the same boat as Mitsubishi and Mikasa Foods. I still have a few Sony products, but I won't be going out of my way to buy any more. The release of the new Type-P mini laptop is a perfect example of Sony's despiration. Their advertisments state, it is not a net-book, but a mini laptop, however, by description a net-book is a small portable computer lacking a disc drive, which means it is a net-book. The only factor that does not personify the Type-P as a net-book is the ridiculous price tag of 10maan for the basic model. It is a net-book and should be priced accordingly. Even their camera prices have exploded compared to other brands. Sony will start cutting jobs and products in the very near future, thus further damagoing their reputation.

Sony must be regretting all the billions that they wasted in their attempts to get into music and Hollywood, with Akio Morita helicoptering in to golf games, a la Bill Gates, and forever picking up the bill at sushi lunches.
They also need to improve the quality of their products, and their repair services. "Sony time" is well-known as that very small interval of time between the expiration of the warranty and the breakdown of the product, while trying to get Sony to repair one of its own products is about as hard as getting into a bathhouse in Otaru.

Thats really true wanderlust, my psp 300 was bought last september 2008, and it`s not functioning, it will not read the umd. There is really a slight problem in their quality, because it wont last that long. I hope its still covered with their warranty. I hope so.

Sony is at the low end of consumer electronics in Japan. Hitachi and National are typically the best. The problem for Sony is that people are not buying more than the essentials right now which is true for the car companies and every other manufacturer out there.
