It will neither discourage nor encourage Sony, business as usual as they are used to losses.

Sony's poor performance is a topic in the Wall Street. Many investors are dumping Sony as fast as they can.

The stock used to be $58 a couple of years ago, and now it is at $18. The reason behind is Sony is not catching up with a global innovation game change. They kept focusing on hardware instead of software innovations. Many of royal global customers of Sony dumped Sony products and went to Apple products. They will not go back to Sony from Apple unless Sony comes up with better innovative products. Sorry, I have no sympathy for Sony. Every Japanese business men should learn something from Sony's failure in global market.

I think I said this week that we could expect to see the red ink at Sony continue fort at least another three years. Looks like S&P smells the same possibilities.

I guess this is what competition all about, there's up and down. It's good for the market where people have the freedom to choose making companies to improve and meet those demands.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the way Sony has historically treated their customers?

Nope. No innovation as stated above. They may be on the way to bankraptcy unless they shift gears to innovations. The game will be over for them.

Truly the sustained strong Yen for so many years, have ensured that Japanese icons like Sony is no more competitive in global markets vis a vis Korea Samsung, LG, etc Taiwanese HTC, etc......they have huge advantage when it come to exchange rates. Won & Taiwanese NT are very competitive when compared to Japanese Yen. Bye bye Japanese corporate manufacturers.

Sony needs to make things people want to pay for. The PS Vita might turn their fortunes around, the pre-order demand is huge but if they sell it for a loss as they originally did with the PS3, all the demand won't help much to generate profits.
