Subaru EX Series engine production hits 3-million mark

TOKYO —

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, the maker of Subaru automobiles, has reached the 3 million-unit cumulative production of Subaru general purpose engine EX Series. It has been approximately 10 years since the start of production with the EX Series engines in December 2001.

The EX Series engines ensure high reliability and durability by the chain-driven overhead cam (OHC) mechanism, which is based on the technology of Subaru automobile Legacy model, as well as the highly rigid engine block and highly efficient cooling and lubricating system. The series features an optimized combustion chamber and intake port, which provides highly efficient combustion and air intake. This ensures higher power, lower exhaust emissions and less fuel consumption.

Furthermore, the Subaru EX Series engines offer quieter operation, enabled by the lower mechanical noise of the OHC mechanism as well as optimum design of exhaust silencer, and easy “one-pull” starting with less recoil pulling force.

Hmmm, but it does stumble somewhat on economy. I used to have Legacy's which were brilliant except for their thirst! The mention of less fuel consumption must be relative to older Subaru engines, not competitors!
