Toho's box-office revenue hits record in Jan-Sept
TOKYO —
Movie distributor Toho Co said Thursday that its box-office revenue in January-September 2008 hit a record high thanks to hit movies such as “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.”
The company’s box-office revenue surged 42% from a year before to 60 billion yen in the nine months, already surpassing its annual record of 59.5 billion yen registered in 2007. In addition to the animated movie by well-known Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, “Twentieth Century Boys,” released in September, also contributed to Toho’s strong performance.

Good, now can they stop showing those annoying anti-piracy videos. I have not been to a Toho cinema for a long time because I got sick of paying money to watch videos aimed at pirates.

You can make a lot of profit charging $20 a seat to a movie like in this country.
