Tomy announces toy smartwatch

Tomy Co Ltd will release the "Play Watch" toy smartwatch on June 20.

It is equipped with a 1.41-inch touch-sensitive LCD panel, and the design of its screen can be selected from 50 kinds of designs. Moreover, it offers games and can record sound with a microphone and take pictures and videos with a 300,000-pixel camera.

Its storage has a capacity of 128 Mbytes, capable of storing about 800 pictures, about six minutes of 320 x 240-pixel video or about 15 minutes of 160 x 120-pixel video. Stored pictures and videos can be transferred to a personal computer via a USB cable.

The built-in rechargeable battery of the watch can also be charged via a USB cable. The watch cannot be connected to a network such as wireless LAN. It comes in four colors: white, pink, blue and purple.

Its price is ¥7,980.
