Major convenience store chain 7-Eleven is expanding its presence in Japan with stores planned for Kochi Prefecture this month and one in Aomori in summer. That will leave only Tottori and Okinawa as the only two prefectures without a 7-Eleven.
Three stores will open in Kochi City, including one at Kochi train station in the form of a kiosk. All three Kochi stores will be selling exclusive Kochi 7-Eleven nanaco Cards to mark the occasion.

If I had to guess which prefecture other than Okinawa did not have a 7 Eleven, I would have guessed Kochi. The prefecture is poorer than Okinawa now. It is buffeted by typhoons and huge wave action all the time, and it is a big hollowed out prefecture. But for Ryoma and Kukai related tourism and fine natural wonders (including the last free flowing river), it is somewhat grim. I recall the Tosa Nikki, one of the oldest diaries in Japanese history, in which the author could not leave the place soon enough to get back to Kyoto.
I like Tottori. Great seafood and there are the famous sand dunes. I like GeGeGe no Kitaro, but you can get related souvenirs in Osaka easily enough. Plus I think Tottori is the least populated prefecture in Japan. Maybe that is why 7 Eleven is avoiding the place.

Wow, kind of shocked to learn that there are prefectures that don't have any 7-Elevens! My city alone has 150 of them.
