The first phase of the expansion covers vehicles from the 2011 model year or older that are registered in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Yeah, so why is is this recall of millions of vehicles only happening in the US? Why hasn't there been any investigation into it in Japan? I own a Stepwgn in the models being recalled in the US, but have heard nothing about a recall in Japan.

I agree, just recall all vehicles with Takata Airbags from the last 20 years and fold the company. It must be well over half of those airbags already identified already.
