Well, what about that? Be ready to close it. Planet Earth will stop buying goods from Planet Japan because of their intransigence, concitedness, and arrogance.

With Barack Obama in charge of most of North America, population-wise, for the next four years, it may take more than four years...

Toyota is a pretty conservative company and 1 billion dollars might look like a really good bet is GM/Chrysler/Ford all go broke.

That's where you're wrong. Canada has a pretty open door immigration policy. So long as they keep bringing people in, those people will need housing and transportation. More citizens means more cars, especially when the Canadian government is subsidizing the new arrivals.

My "American" car was built in Canada. (GM Pontiac) This does make sense, when the "big three" disappear there will be a void to fill! Though perhaps Ford might still be in business..... Remember Toyota can sell these cars in the United States as well as Canada.

Just make sure to keep the UAW as far away as possible. No need to follow the same destructive path as the Big 3.

"My "American" car was built in Canada"

My friend's "Japanese" car was built in the USA, with over 60% USA-made parts. Go figure.

My point is that the plant will be used for global production. We need to change our thinking from the outdated regional plan. Perhaps production will change from a year cycle to a week or perhaps daily one. Thus this plant would be able to produce for perhaps a complete global market! One week making production for the Japanese market and the next America or even Europe.

Canada has CAW for the Big 3 factories that are located in Ontario/Quebec and they have pretty much destroyed the possibility of the factories remaining viable.
