I would like to see a whole Prius line like the Scion line. -All hybrids or electrics. More solar panels on all other vehicles + more battery features, AC inverters.

Well, the obvious problem is the collapse of the auto market, and Toyota finds itself overextended. However, when I was advising the Toyota Senior Executive in the mid-1990's? on a new engine, more fuel efficiency, it was in addressing the problems emerging presently - thus, auto sales are collapsing EXCEPT the Prius. These were latent problems.

If CEO Toyoda sees the company going down the toilet like before, get the guy in charge of the old Celica/Supra Division to give me a call. To address the problems, one could use a clear understanding of the overview of the situation. I am not joking, but I wish I was.

First order of business make a product that is exciting. What happened to Toyota the company that brought us the 2000Gt, Supra, Mr2 or even the Levin? Toyotas now are god awful boring or downright ugly. There is not a sporty car in the whole lot.

It's not just Toyota but the whole auto industry is affected by the slowdown of U.S. and world economy. Toyota needs to have lines of Prius with option of 1500cc diesel hybrid or small turbo-diesel from Isuzu technology with 60-70mpg capability. If you make the Prius using lighter components and less option, you can also get additional gas milage results and by developing a smaller 1000cc turbo-gas engine/hybrid but the performance will most likely suffer. Also, Tacoma truck could be fitted with 2.4 Camry hybrid engine as option. Currently, they have no small hybrid trucks available. The future demand on what type of vehicle will depend on reliability and gas milage. The energy cost will continue to be expensive.

The 2000GT, Supra, MR2 were low production specialized vehicles and did not make money, this is why they were discontinued. They are in business to make money. If Toyota want to build a performance car cheaply, they can install 3.5 engine in a Corolla S and beef up the suspension and brakes. If you need to find car similar to MR2 ro 2000GT, look at Lotus, they use this same Toyota 3.5 engine for their sports car.

For Toyota, the easy, obvious answer may not be the best answer.

Re: apecNetworks at 5:46pm, 27th June. "For Toyota, the easy obvious answer may not be the best answer" Well, this remark applies to all auto manufacturer and not exclusively Toyota alone. Do you have any idea on what your specific plan would be since you stated that you advised Toyota Senior Executive's in the 90's.
