how many orders from their own employees? a few months ago, didn't Toyota ordered their managers to buy a car? still, good for them.

might be because they are cheap/competitively priced here. but franz75 has a good point.

Buy it if you need an appliance for commuting but don't buy it if you need a real car. The persons using a Prius are not drivers but operators... it is such a boring thing.

I think having an "exciting" car or a "boring" car is unimportant as you'll get used to it in very little time. However, the 38 kilometres/litre is something that will go on and on.

cow76 - you haven't driven what some people would class an "exciting" car, have you? They don't really get old on the senses.

Ha, good point. I have a 10 year old tiny Honda. But I'm sure the thrill of an "exciting" car would wear off just like the novelty factor of everything wears off. Also, most roads are 40 kmh, there's nowhere you can really drive fast except the highway and that's usually pretty congested too. Hence, you can't get maximum excitement from a fast car.

I think that 50 miles a gallon is not a small incentive for the sales.

Very few people know this since I had some influence in the creation of the Prius, but Toyota was and is Olympic-class competitors in automaking. I respect that.

I'd love to be a Prius crash test driver, smashing up hybrids all day for a living. Oh man.

A buddy of mine used to have a Prius. Nice car, then he hit a deer. Neither the deer nor the Prius survived unfortunately.

A buddy of mine in Michigan drove an S-10 pickup. So-so truck, then he hit a deer. Neither the deer nor the S-10 survived, the antlers just missing my buddy.

Too bad they don't have a AWD Prius, as I think there may be interest in it...
