At least Toyota recalls them, better safe than sorry. Wonder how many other car companies would recall half a million cars.

Yeah this company is going DOWNHILL fast. Lots of recalls, mechanical failures, accelerator pedals that stick. Just yesterday it was reported that Toyotas net profits plunged to a new low.

Obviously, these problems date all the way back to 2007. Too many cover-ups by Japanese companies to avoid scandal.

Never liked Toyota, ojisan car. The most boring design ever. The wind has changed and they can't hide their defects any more and neither can do they better. God save, that would cost money and needed expertise.

They are like an old fat whore still trying to be attractive with her worn-out , fatty-shiny purple dressing-gown. And their cars are like a whores too, you have to pay in advance and then pray them to start moveing.

Isn't there a recall for defective managers and execs?

It's only a faulty pulley that could shed the power steering belt, no big deal even if the belt came off and the power steering stopped working the car can still be safely steered to the side of the road.

You mugs bashing toyota for the hell of it have no idea about cars or anything else for that matter do you !

Mugs are who design and produce defective cars that need recalls for years long, one series after another. One mistake is no mistake, two mistakes are a lot. They have been going on with the series of recalls that and are unable to learn.

Atleast TOYOTA has the descency to recall, and it has a responsibilty to care for the lives of customers,I wonder how many other Automobile companies have faults but dind,t make them public??

The Munya Times obviously you know nothing about cars, the US manufacturers have also been recalling cars, if you pulled your head out of your biased arse youd be able to see that.

ExportExpert, don't underestimate the problem. When the power steering fails in the moment you are slowly turning around a corner many people won't be able to handle the car properly. It takes a surprising amount of force to steer the car without the assistance of the power steering. I can tell you from first hand experience because I had a similar problem on my car (not a Toyota).

@marcels Where's your memory? Toyota received heavy fines for NOT recalling and addressing KNOWN defects in their vehicles. They don't want to be fined again.

If the company had any decency they'd fix the problem IMMEDIATELY not starting from Dec or Jan. Speaking of decency, Toyota should try to build a decent car first.

Egads, it's so sad. Toyota can't build a car that turns without losing control.

    A. And if the US automakers jump out the open window should Japan follow them?

    B. Its not only about technicalities but human i.e. drivers reaction. It is hard to predict how certain drivers of different age and preparedness with their given experiences would react either in the city traffic or at high speed on the highway. They might even panic or and caught by surprise get confused and paralyzed and can delay or fail to give the steering wheel necessary physical the power that can cost lives.

    C. Aren't you happen to be positively biased toward Toyota, defending serious malfunctions that can even cause instant accidents downplaying the series of failures by Toyota?

There hasnt been failures let alone accidents or deaths yet, it is far from being as serious as you'd very much like it to be, and yes i will defend the best car maker in the world for sure as they make a great product, far better than any other nations auto makers can do.
