Toyota to cut Lexus production due to slumping sales

NAGOYA —

Toyota Motor Corp will trim domestic production of the luxurious Lexus passenger car model to be sold overseas as the global economic downturn has sharply reduced demand, company officials said Tuesday.

Toyota will cut back production at two of its domestic factories—one in Tahara, Aichi Prefecture, and another in Miyawaka, Fukuoka Prefecture—on Dec 24 and 25. Toyota rarely reduces output at its Japanese factories.

I wonder if cutting back production will reduce some of the repair part prices for my Harrier?

Why the cuts ? GM is doing very well with their luxury car models in China ! Why can't Japan compete there ?
