alright!! the return of the Subaru boxer engine... and in a Toyota....

The "ruby red" color is "shoujouhi"... politely scarlet... but if you live in Japan you know it as "monkey butt red"... the color of the nihonzaru's butt... that is the official story.

I don't know how a flat-4 make this a Green Car, but it does keep the weight low. Price is sort of high though.

I have a '06 Subaru 'Forester' & always had an itch for a flat opposed four when they first appeared in Canada some yrs ago.

    "the ruby-red sportscar"

It isn't green, then, nyuk nyuk nyuk!

Ruby-red is the only color for a sportscar.

    I want a ruby-red hybrid Corvette.

nandaka: the post immediately above mine. Disgusting. The car's very nice, but what that person wrote is just plain rude.

Ruby Red Sports Cars should only be driven by girls named Dorthy , and with a dressed up dog named ToTo

So the long-awaited "Toyobaru" will hit the streets. As a former owner of an AE-86 and a Leone Turbo, and a current "Scoobie" driver, I hope the 'boxer engine' will put some spark into the maker of some of the most boring cars in the world.

IvanCoughalot ( cough, cough, cough ): "What that person wrote is just plain rude"

It is not. It is witty as heck.

Yeinats: Ruby Red Sports Cars should only be driven by girls named Dorthy"

The AE86 with some tweaking is still a drifting favorite. Maybe Toyota will actually build something cool again it's been a long time since the Supra got the axe.

    Let's check that...

After all, the 'Vette gets 'em wet! Nyuk nyuk nyuk!

Now just checking what witty means...

amusingly clever in perception and expression

I'm going to stand by my initial diagnosis. And you really should see someone about that cough.

When is Toyota going to make a car that runs on plutonium and a flex capacitor?

IvanCoughalot: "I'm going to stand by my initial diagnosis."

Then you'll continue to be wrong.

That's more your speciality, old bean. I'll leave it to the expert. Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

And it's a flux capacitor. Not a flex capacitor.

    "ruby-red sportscar"

Actually, there are two acceptable colors for sportcars - ruby-red and canary yellow.

Ivan - Oh, yeah, flux capacitor, heh heh.

With the Subaru flat four cylinder 2.5 engine and cost over $30K, I don't think this is much of a car for the money. Toyota should put their own 3.5 V6 engine, the same one on Camry on the new sports car. If you look at Lotus Evora, they use this same Toyota engine, and it's a better balance than the Subaru powered engine. Toyota is making a mistake by using Subaru engine.
