Congratulations to the Toyota corporation. They have proved the naysayers wrong time and time again. People the world over understand what true quality of durable automobiles are all about, not junk lemons.

Toyota may be a quality automobile but I still fail to understand the appeal of the bland appliances they produce. Not saying much for GM either but since the death of the Supra "driving enthusiast" and Toyota don't match. I'm prejudice as a lover of sports cars however.

Yeah, the Supra was an amazing piece of work. I've wondered why they never brought it back. The Supra, RX-7 (RX-8 is a step backwards in my opinion), and NSX were all great cars that the Japanese seemed to abandon. Toyota is too busy building the least offensive car in the world, the Camry.

SuperLib I'm with you completely. I think these vehicles along with things like the Toyota Soarer and Mazda Cosmo were the fuits of the boom with lots of people able to shell out top dollar for high end vehicles. I think you're also right on the RX-8, kind of a let down. Nissan is still keeping the faith with the GT-R however, unfortunately out of my price range so my wife and I have hung onto our Mazda Roadster and r-32 GTR

Good for Toyota. They've gotten there by making a better product.

Notice I didn't say a more interesting product. I wish they'd make an updated version of the Yotohachi (Sports 800).

Not so, they're doubling booking CKD production. They're actually a good ways behind FORD.

The Supra was not a Toyota. It died when the contract expired. And the RX-7 had this to contend with: Mazda got the financing pulled by Sumitomo and were forced to remove stacks of listed items(original parts). The PGBs for the first production showed 5 coats of paint but in reality it had 3! The RX-8 is virtually 2 cars - the one the Mazda PR people 'produced' ie. sing/sang about, and the one the Mazda engineers actually succeeded in building ie. engine performance wise. The vehicle is nothing less than a major con job. It is so over stated that I can't understand why a major class action suit hasn't been filed. Japanese producers enjoy something the Americans could never swallow - the ability to earn buckets of praise and public support when your products are clearly not what you state they are.
