Come on, let JAL die or be bought out by a competant foreign carrier like Singapore Airlines which has in the past committed to pruchase lone flag carriers: Air India and Air New Zealand.

It's like putting plasters on wooden legs. Has been in the red or on the limit for way to long. Let the monster die. Keep a plane or 2 for museums.

Put it to the taxpayers, would they:

A: out of nationalist interest to preserve the nation's only flag carrier under Japanese control, let their taxes bail out this basket case.

B: Allow a willing and able foreign airline (not a Star Alliance affiliate for the obvious reason) of their choice to purchase JAL with a SURE BET that the JAL brand and its old middle management will be scrapped in favour of the parent's own brand with minor adjustments for the Japanese market. Singapore Airlines is part of Star Alliance so..DAMN.

If I was a reasonable tax paying ordinary, I'd know which option I'd take
