These sorts of companies are hurting the worldwide Made-in-Japan brand. One of the few things Japan has going for it is its reputation for quality. If this sort of corruption isn't taken seriously, they will take the entire Japanese economy down with them.

Takata better pay out quickly and settle this. There are already four deaths, and a 7.8 million recall, if they don't settle quickly, this class-action will only snowball and get bigger fast.

Plus, I hate this kind of company practice where they something is faulty, but fixing it is so expensive so they just hope and pray nothing really bad happens. So far, it seems 4 deaths isn't enough for them to care.

A reputation built around a house of cards in many instances, with numerous problems swept under the rug to try to protect Japan Inc.

Japan's economy has been in the toilet for quite a while, so what's different?

Liars always get caught out. This is not the first time a japanese firm has come under international fire for failing to produce what they were promoting. I'm sure these same airbags were used in many other countries too, including Japan. If this class act is successful I have no doubt all the other countries will be following suit. This could be another Japanese company going down the spout because of their lies and deception. "See ya!"

Just sitting back and waiting for the "gomen-gomen" press conference and see how these folks take not having the damn foreigners accepting their apologies.

Wonderful, a class action suit. There will be hundreds of plaintiffs, and one or two law firms. The law firms will take about half of any settlement, the hundreds of plaintiffs will have to divide the other half among themselves, and then get taxed on whatever they get, if there is enough to tax. My last take in a class action suit amounted to less than one dollar. The check was sent by certified mail, return receipt requested. The postage was $5. I wonder why they bothered.

If these plaintiffs are smart, they will fire their attorneys, send an invoice directly to Takata, and ask what they think is fair. They are likely to get much more using this apporach.

Another rip-off by Americans?
