They are opening Mega-stores, but the LL-size of shirts and T-shirts sold by them seem to shrink compared to the ones I bought earlier around 2003-2005. And so far, I could not find XL or 3L in their shops in Japan, so they have lost at least one customer.

I hate the colors they offer. Look like gang colors.

I live in rural Japan and have been shopping at uni qlo for years the quality is great for the price, but the one area they could improve are the sizes ,very difficult to get or find waist 91, 92 or shirts in xxl etc....

I don't think there is any way that this company can thrive in N. America. There are already a handful of comparable companies who offer far superior clothing in the same price tier that Uniqlo does. Companies like American Eagle, Old Navy, GAP, etc. I find the Uniqlo designs ugly, the materials cheap and for the 5 years I have been in Japan it seems like they are reintroducing the same product season after season with the only improvement being a new color scheme.

I think the reason this company has done so well in Japan is because its only real competitor is Shimamura, however I think once they are in a market where there are actually comparable alternatives being offered, the are going to find themselves at the bottom of the totem-pole and need to actually put some effort and care into their product if they want to last longer than six months.

Not so sure, considering that Uniqlo, seem to have done well for themselves for the last 7yrs in the USA, UK, etc. Ditto for MUJI.

They are simple expanding their overseas foot-print.

The quality has dropped seriously in the past few years. And as u0127907 says, all they do is change a few colors every year.

When you walk into the NY store, do you hear 20 associates all yell "Welcome!!" simultaneously from all the way across the store as they do here in Japan?

This is a classic example of expanding too fast (200-300 stores a year!!!!) It will come crashing in 5-10 years. I studied cases like these in 2nd year uni, surely someone on their team knows this?!

It will come crashing in 5-10 years

That's the reason for the rush.

They have every color you can think of. What do you want, gold and silver?

Am I the only one here who's not obese? The sizes at Uniqlo are just right for me. And all I usually find on the discount shelves are clothes in XL and XXXL sizes - no wonder Uniqlo have given up on these sizes if no local wants them.

    Marcel:

very difficult to get or find waist 91, 92

MY GOD! Have you tried the maternity section?
