Lets see...rent and food, or go out a buy a new car? That's a toughie.

It is ironic. The American auto makers have wanted to reduce the number of dealerships, but were prevented in doing so by very strong state franchise laws. Now, this is likely to rub out twice as many auto dealers as the OEM's had hoped for.

They should let these automakers die and create jobs through the construction of mas transit systems.

As a life long Saab owner I'm cheering for a bankruptcy declaration from GM. GM's subpar products and penny pinching led to their problems. Ford however will survive and has been winning comparisons against Toyota and Honda. Back on the mark people will buy cars when they feel safe again and that's going to be a while.

"GM, which marked its worst February sales since 1967"
That is pitiful. I have to admit, I'm a contributor to GM's woes - I have bought only one GM car in my entire life, and that was used.
