Louis Vuitton on the ropes in Japan? Would never have believed it. Perhaps the economic situation in this country is a lot worse than the commissars at NHK would have everyone believe.

Er... timorborder, LV does indeed get a very small mention at the end of the article, but hardly "on the ropes" as you say. They just cancelled plans to open one of their largest shops in Japan...

Much cheaper Price for LV in other area since Japanese Yan is too strong. Japanese will go out to purchase, at the same time no tourist come to shop.

Fake / copy products should not be a problem since real LV or luxury fans will only buy genuine products.

No more money.

Versace really never stood out as a luxury brand in Japan. When younguns have the cash they always buy LV or Gucci first. If its not that, then they go for the newest fad as outlined in one of those monthly 500-page beauty magazines.

More and more people are becoming aware that although big names guarantee quality and status, the inflated prices are not worth it.

I know plenty of Japanese both young and old that head off to Korea for their fix of Korean food and "super copies" as they call them.
But as for the comment, " ...the existing Japanese shops are no longer consistent with the image of the Versace brand". Does anyone here have real experience of Versace in other countries and knows how they differ to what is found in Japan? That might be quite interesting.

Millions of female parasite singles and obasans must be crying. Millions of others have realized what a waste of money it all was.

Millions. A highly inflated estimate.

Versace is no Louis Vuitton(LVMH) or Bernard Arnault(14th richest in world).
