Yokohama to build partnership with Seven-Eleven
YOKOHAMA —
The City of Yokohama on Thursday concluded a “Comprehensive Local Revitalization Partnership Agreement” with Seven-Eleven Japan Co. Based on this agreement, Yokohama and Seven-Eleven will strengthen their partnerships in five fields, including the improvement of public services and the Yokohama brand, and projects regarding the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Yokohama Port, to enhance local revitalization.
As a major element of the agreement, 269 Seven-Eleven stores in Yokohama will provide a range of services such as hot water to make powdered milk to support families with children, and working experience and social studies for the elementary and junior high schools of Yokohama. For the environment, stores will work to reduce in-store electricity consumption and CO2 emissions in their
distribution process. As well as the above, Yokohama will partner with stores to reinforce cooperative structures, including the revitalization of the local food industry, improvement of the Yokohama brand, patrols in coordination with police stations as regional security and anticrime, and initiatives in disaster management.
Following the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Yokohama Port in this year, stores will also create and display original posters, develop and sell original memorial products, and sell tickets regarding the anniversary events. Further campaigns will also be planned.

Well I suspect those families with children who are looking for support are more likely to be in need of the powedered milk, not the hot water to mix it with--is 7-Eleven going to give away baby formula??

This is weird! We have a city, which runs on tax money, partnering with a corporation in a competitive industry, how about all the other convenies?
Neighborhood patrols are a very good thing but when you get a company involved, there is a real possibility of abuse of conceived authority.

Or even hot water to mix with powdered milk. Can't make powdered milk from hot water....
