This is just plain illogical. The WikiLeaks proved that the U.S. government has been labelling stuff as "classified" that had no reason to be a state secret, and has been doing stuff that the U.S. public would never approve of behind the shield of "state security".

Their response to being caught out? "QUICK!! CLASSIFY EVERYTHING!!". Umm.. guys, this just makes you look more guilty.

WikiLeaks is simply verifying what everyone should already know. When faced with the media spin of current events you have to read between selected lines. Politics is so full of BS.

I'm on the fence here, while information is good to know, the wikileaks guys act like it's their god given right to steal documents and publish them, they basically are now hated by every government in the world.

What I find as bizarre is that people actually believe that you can hook a flash drive to one of these "secure" computers and just start downloading. Each one of these documents has security and must be checked/signed out. =These are secure documents + they are over a large range of dates. I don't believe this story one bit, but many uninformed people seemed to.

-The Lady Gaga embellishment adds a nice touch to the story however.

He's an american working for the US government. The media identifies him as an american, not a brit. The leak that happened some months ago was also perpetrated by an american and subsequently splashed all over Wikileaks.

Remember the FBI agent Robert Hanssen? Selling US secrets to whomever? Yet another american, in a long list of americans, who apparently enjoy betraying their country.

CHECK OUT article from CBS website in US, "Caught on Tape: Selling America's Secrets". Selling state secrets (espionage) range from $2000 to obviously higher rate depending on the info.

I'm not arguing your general point, only the specifics in this case. What all American traitors have in common though is a Leftist ideology, or an equally sentimental kind of "transnational progressivism".

oh so if they prosecute this guy then who is going to prosecute the US for all its crimes...such as surveliling UN Diplomats and stealing their secret data??...its a fallacy. The US govt is just pissed it got caught red handed.

Okay, so first we had to brace for "blowback" that didn't happen and now we have to brace for the big chill? The kind of "chill" I am thinking of requires no bracing, and I think a lot of people do need to chill.

There is a lot of information we do not need nor want to know as it is scary stuff.

Badsey - You obviously have no experience in such an environment. Is your (mis-)understanding of secure networks--apparently based on some movie you saw--the basis for some kind of conspiracy theory?
