Making any comment on Obama, good or bad, is rather meaningless as his "policies" and actions are not his own.

Obama is the latest in a long line of American puppets.

Perhaps he will be known as the Nobel Peace prize winner who invaded Pakistan and bumped off a guy purported to be Bin Laden and had the body dumped at sea so that no one would ever know the truth.

    "the Great Recession of 2007-2009"

It's actually the Great Recession of 2007-2011, and looks to be extended to at least 2016 unless the current mis-leadership is thrown out in 2012 and sound economic and fiscal policies are implemented.

I can't wait to to be told who is pulling the puppets' strings.

It might be interesting to know, though there's not much we could do about it even if we did, is there?

Obama is the latest in a long line of American puppets.

So who pulls the strings? I have been given this inane 'puppet' analogy for the three decades I have lived and traveled abroad. I am no fan of Obama's but he and his people ran a very good campaign. Have the people of your native Britain - or any nation in Europe for that matter - elevated to the highest office in the land a 'brown' or 'black' person? No. They have not. Garsh, is it your 'racism', or is it all the work of da eeeevil Bilderburgers??

So let's have it if you are so clever.

    Who really controls America?

unreconstructed-san, there is so much to comment on your post, but there is not time nor space. So let's just pick up on one point alone:

    Percentage of blacks in U.K. 2.9% (2009)

    Percentage of blacks in U.S.A. 13.6% (2009)

You want to start a discussion on black history in the States?

Blacks, Chinese, Hispanics, "Asians" - as you call Pakistanis and Indians - whatever. You have far more East Indians in the UK than we have in the US and yet Jindal made senator and Haley (Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley) was elected governor, both of them in the supposedly 'orribly racist South.

You want to start a discussion on black history in the States?

I laugh. America is far more diverse than you like to imagine. It's not black and white, regardless of what you read in The Guardian.

Asians have been well represented in the U.K. parliament since Dadabhai Naoroji in 1892. Since then, there were: Mancherjee Bhownagree and Shapurji Saklatvala, Keith Vaz, Piara Khabra, Niranjan Deva, Parmjit Dhanda, Mohammad Sarwar (the first British Muslim MP), Khalid Mahmood and Parmjit Singh Gill. The first British-born Muslims to be elected to Parliament were Shahid Malik and Sadiq Khan in 2005, both of Asian descent.

In 2010, Rushanara Ali, was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency in London. She is the first person of Bangladeshi origin to have been elected to Parliament.

Several British Asians have also been awarded peerages to sit in the House of Lords, including Lord Paul, Baroness Warsi, Lord Desai, Baroness Uddin (first Bangladeshi), Lord Alli, Lord Bilimoria, and Lord Dholakia.

There's a long list of British members of parliament of African descent also.

Some say Obama was distracted by his health care overhaul. Others say his $862 billion stimulus program was poorly designed.

Just two of the many mistakes of the Obama administration. It's a shame the U.S. has been saddled with such inept leaders for the past 11 years.
