I guess from the smell of it, many Japanese feel that China is smacking around their emperor by dictating the time and place for when to meet. And from the viewpoint of the huge changes taking place in Asia (China set to surpass Japan as 2nd largest economy in the world), this bit of symbolism could have been done on purpose by the Chinese, to illustrate that point, in a subtle (or dramatic) way.

From this vantage point, Japanese people have every right to be sensitive, as their national pride has been rather publicly violated in their own backyard.

That being said, Japanese people should get over it and move on.

Sounds like pre-Meji times when the shoguns had the power over the emperor. The interesting part though is how Japan bows before China; the new leader in Asia shows its presence.

Or rather it's still about scrambling for the manipulation of the forbidden area or "kashikoki-atari". Nothing changed or it has even spread to China, it seems.

    Welcome back China

I hope they've learnt their lesson to never be content with themselves again when they eventually do become the centre of universe, as always other hungry ascending powers could easily tear them apart like as it occured during the Opium Wars.
