10-year-old boy stabbed to death in Osaka; mother stabs herself

OSAKA —

A 10-year-old boy was stabbed to death on Friday at his home in Moriguchi City, Osaka, and his 50-year-old mother was found injured after stabbing herself in the stomach, police said, adding she is in a stable condition.

Yusaku Eguchi was found dead by his 21-year-old stepsister who called an ambulance. She told police that her mother had also stabbed herself with a 20-centimeter-long knife.

According to police, the mother lives with the victim, daughter, and husband, 37, and ex-husband’s mother, 84, in the same house. Police said the mother has just been saying, “I’m sorry” and mumbling “Someone installed a wiretap at home.”

If the 21-year-old is the daughter, and the 10-year-old the son of the mother, how can she be his stepsister? Mistranslation of half-sister?

Poor lad. I imagine there was a lot of stress going on in the mother's mind, trying to deal with a much younger husband and an older MIL. Something snapped.

And when it comes around to interrogating her, the excuse will be "I wanted to die myself, but....." Heard it a million times before. Then again, talk of home bugging, etc. seems to imply that this woman is a few takoyaki short of a full complement.

Pretty easy to put two and two together.

marriage #1 = (50 y/0 loon) w/ Husband1(?y/o) w/ 82 y/o w/ 21 y/o daughter. She had the kid when she was 29, so she hooked in Husband1 with the expiration date jedi j-woman skills.

marriage #2 = loon w/ Husband2 w/ mom of Husband1 w/ daughter of Marriage 1 w/ new kid. Age at birth of new kid? Loon=40, husband2=27. M1Daughter = 11.

Are you paying attention? Husband 2 married loon when he was 27, and she was 40 AND had a 11 year old kid AND a 74 y/o granny.

Why did husband1 leave granny behind? Either he was total flake, or he died. likely the latter. Maybe at the hands of Mrs. loon.

I feel sorry for granny, as she is probably wonderign what in gods name did she do to deserve such a crappy ending to her life.

Imagine how the poor 21 year old feels. Step brother is dead. Dad is likely dead (or gone), mom tried to kill herself, and all she has left now is granny, whom she will most likely be responsible for.

Man I hope she figures out how to have some kind of a normal life.

They always tell you the length of the knife in these reports, are reporters pre-occupied with the exact length of the knife, how about it was a short knife or a long knife?

Very sad. I think the kids in Japan, especially ES age, have wonderful spirit and energy. They seem to be the most individual of everyone in Japan. It`s disturbing when I hear of such news.

It would make more sense for this article to be titled "mother allegedly stabs 10 year old boy to death; stabs self". It would seem as if the mother had stabbed herself in her grief, but all the evidence makes it seem like that's not the case at all. I hope the poor boy gets justice done after all.
