1,000 tulips planted for festival found chopped up in Maebashi

GUNMA —

About 1,000 tulips planted for a greenery festival were found chopped up early Thursday in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. The 1,000 tulips were planted in 200 beds in the vicinity of JR Maebashi Station as part of a greenery event by the prefectural government.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have seen the perpetrator or perpetrators on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning to come forward.

A petty crime and it is unlikely anyone will pay attention to Police Request.

My wife loves Tulips. This is a completely senseless crime and I hope they can get whoever did this. It takes a lot of effort to chop up 1000 tulips, so obviously someone has a grudge somewhere along the line. When they do find the culprit, they should fine that person at 1000yen per tulip!

Probably a tulip investor trying to drive up tulip prices.

What a nutjob(s)! To cut 1,000 tulips is no mean feat, so somebody must be really looney tunes.
