"Police suspect the boat may have transported the stimulants." Not necessarily? They may have been held aloft in a blimp towed by the vessel? Gotta cover every aspect to be fair J police.
I'm sure they're all still there, boat encircled, scratching their heads and mumbling " do ni natta ka na...neh?" "m-n-n-n-n?" Our brilliant boys in blue. Nothing gets past them.
Japanese invented meth so the kamikaze fighters would be fearless when they went on missions and would crash their palnes into ships and amo facilities (its a fact)
So the japanese created the most addictive and destructive drug in the world and now they are the tightest with drug control laws.
Just a very simple import of drugs Japanese Coast Guard really had done a good performance. Those Chinglish guys should be deported back to China immediately. I wouldn't waste money on such scumbags: 'YES WE CAN DO THAT ALSO.'
Sarge: TIme to pull the old antennae out, lad. Little bit of polish, off with the rust, then tune in. It's true, Kochi has the highest rates of just about everything on the wrong side. Highest divorce rates, alcoholism, you name it ... A tough, kind and great people though. I just love the place. Can't wait for summer and the Shimanto gawa, squeal!
Wottock: "if people didn't want them ( illegal drugs ), there would ( wouldn't? ) be any point in smuggling them now, would there?"
I never said that illegal drugs aren't wanted by a certain segment of the population.
"Please don't try and paint me as some kind of advocate for drugs"
You're the one who said "any kind of stimulation will go down very well indeed" and "if people didn't want them there would ( wouldn't ) be any point in smuggling them" and "it's killed far fewer people than alcohol abuse" - it sure sounds like you don't think illegal stimulants are all that bad. My apologies if you are in fact against the sale and use of these drugs.
Nuts - Kochi's divorce and alcoholism rates aren't the issues here - illegal drugs are being smuggled into Japan for distribution throughout Japan through a Kochi port is the issue here.
It sure sounds like you don't think illegal stimulants are all that bad
That's a guess waaaaaaaaaaay off the mark, even for you. I am in fact entirely anti-drugs, and I don't like you making assumptions like that. Did my use of the phrase "vile as meth is" not give you a clue?
I know that Kochi's a place with an appetite for some excitement, and there are just about enough stupid people to make the industry viable there.
So I'm glad they caught this shipment, and hope the authorities remain double vigilant.
When these reports come out what exactly is the stimulant in question? Coke, speed, meth really what are we talking about here? Anyway 120kg of any of the previously mentioned is quite a lot and these guys are going to be going away for a long time.
it would be impossible for the coast guard to cover the thousands of miles of coastline in Japan. Most of the little islands in the south are totally unguarded. Once you get into Japan, then there's no domestic control. there's a lot of homegrown stuff too.
Sarge: Once again you've snatched misunderstanding from the jaws of logic. Nobody condones drugs here, nobody on these forums at least. On with that thinking cap, lad. Dust it off and adjust levels please ...sigh.

Great story - it brings out the usual hypocritical charges of "racism" AND the armchair sleuths/yakuza experts. Kudos!

Large men in kimonos were seen fleeing the scene in a waddling gait as police picked up any local forigners on hand.

Of course they didn't touch the yakuza most likely in charge of this business.

Even illegal stimulants which have ruined countless lives, eh?

And vile as meth is, it's killed far fewer people than alcohol abuse, which is shockingly prevalent in Kochi.
Please don't try and paint me as some kind of advocate for drugs. It just exposes yet another layer of ignorance.
