Police in Nanporo, Hokkaido, have arrested a 17-year-old girl on suspicion of stabbing to death her 47-year-old mother and her 71-year-old grandmother at their home.

According to police, the two bodies were found by the suspect's 23-year-old sister when she returned home at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, TBS reported. The women's bodies were found in separate rooms, police said, adding each body had several stab wounds.

Police said the girl has admitted to killing her mother and grandmother while they slept, and that afterwards, she took her older sister's car and drove to a park about 4 1/2 kilometers away, where she threw the knife.

Police quoted the girl as saying she was sick of being disciplined by her mother and grandmother and just had to break free.

so instead of actually breaking free, you're gonna spend the next 30 or 40 years in a small cell. way to go, einstein!

Man, nowadays i seen many case in both my country and Japan about children killed their family over trivial things. What a shame

It's called moving out. You should have tried it before killing your loving parents. Now you will be disciplined in jail.

@rickyvee

She's a minor so she'll probably spend 3 years in juvenile facility, then maybe a year or two in a cushy women's prison and then set free, Welcome to Japan, where you can actually get away with murder if you're a minor, a mother, or a drunk.

Well, she's free now! Free to spend the next ten year or so in prison!

What's another day in Japan without another gruesome family murder? Where is the love?

Japan is a paradise compared to life in other countries. She is foolish for what she did she may not have to suffer in this life for her sin but she will in eternity RIP mom and grand mom

No dad in the picture. With that child raising produces some mixed results. Both parents are usually best.

Oh Dear God !

"Police quoted the girl as saying she was sick of being disciplined by her mother and grandmother and just had to break free."

I always find it amusing that Japanese tend to be matter-of-fact & give their honest reasons for their crimes.

In ‘Murica, we are often left without any explanation of why the crazy people do what they do.

When a child kills his/her parent or grandparent, or a parent or grandparent kills his/her, and this type of things happens often, that indicates the society as a whole has a problem. We, you and I, have created this society. It is clear that she was a mentally ill. She needed a help, but she did not know how to get the help.

It's true, what Timmouton said. Oh I know, as much as I love Japan, that it has some very serious problems. But in America, in a great many large cities, this story wouldn't even make the news. Just another killing.

But I have noticed that there does seem to be a disturbing trend of kids and adults both killing their parents in Japan. Why this is happening, I don't know. I mean, every parent disciplines their kids. It's just part of the job of raising kids. But Japan, when i lived there, had the attitude that children were the parents most precious treasures. Has that changed?

I suppose everything changes. But to change so much that parents become fair game? All kids want freedom to do their own thing, but to kill for that freedom? That's just stupid, like their brains are completely dysfunctional and they have no clue that there are consequences. but then, I expect most people who kill are dysfunctional.

Well they didn't state any further than "discipline" but that can also involve physical and verbal abuse. If either was involved, I really don't see a reason to feel sorry for the "victims" although killing them might be seen as unacceptable by society. If there was no abuse and this girl was just a spoiled brat, then she should just stay in jail until after she gets mental help.

I agree with Akkio. Until we get further information on what type of discipline it was it is a bit premature to just jump ahead and assume she was spoiled and didn't want to move out. Clearly she had to know what the consequences of murdering them was going to be and that moving out would have been easier. People who are in abusive relationships often have a hard time getting away from them and in this case it appears she may have just snapped like so many other people who bottle up their emotions and problems here do. By no means am I saying that murdering them was justified. If there was abuse she should have reported it to the authorities - but we all know after reading articles on here that child protective services and the like are utterly incompetent, so probably wouldn't have resolved anything. I feel sorry for this girl that she felt this was her only option out. Even if they were abusive, I'm sure she regrets it now and will for the rest of her life.

That being said, if it turns out that she was being disciplined by having her phone taken away from her for staying out to late or something: lock her up for awhile!

To break free, she should've done exactly what she did: take her sister's car and go away. Except without killing her mom and granny.

I disagree. Because human life is paramount.
