17-yr-old arrested for beating 14-yr-old boy with baseball bat after Internet insult

Police on Wednesday arrested a 17-year-old youth for attempting to murder a 14-year-old junior high school student with a metal baseball bat at a park in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture. The victim was taken to hospital but remains in critical condition with heavy injuries to his head.

The suspect, who cannot be named because he is a minor, was arrested around 12:25 a.m. in the park after a witness to the attack made an emergency call to police. According to police, the two met each other for the first time earlier in the night. However, the suspect told police that the victim had posted insulting messages about him on his blog. The suspect was quoted by police as saying, “I have been pissed off by his insulting messages for several months. I asked my friends who he is.”

Police are questioning other people who were with the suspect in the park to investigate detail situation of the case.

Not the ubiquitous "iron bar" again. It is unlikely to be an iron bar, possibly wrought iron but more likely a steel bar of some kind. And another thing, it is occasionally reported that a "tire came off a truck"; it is not the tyre which comes off but the wheel which just happens to have a tyre attached to it. Sorry, just expressions which annoys me, like the overuse of "internstional community".

It doesn't matter what age this kid is, once you get in the mind set of beating someone to death, tried as an adult, death penalty. Slap him with the book, he's a punk for using a weapon and an idiot for even getting uspset about a post on a blog. Kids these days (everywhere) are crazy, that comes from horrible parenting. Beat your kids young, they will grow up right....
