A 19-year-old man turned has himself in to police in connection with an incident in which a 39-year-old man was beaten unconscious in Tokyo's Kita Ward on Tuesday night.

Eyewitnesses saw the man being kicked in the face by a gang of three at around 5 a.m. Tuesday after what appeared to be an argument, TV Asahi reported. The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a coma.

Police said that at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 19-year-old male turned himself in to a nearby police station, claiming responsibility for the assault. Police said they are questioning him about the other two members of the gang.

Sickening ! Did the gang do rock-scissors-paper to see who would turn themself in, or did they just choose the youngest member, knowing that being 19, all he'd get is a slapped wrist and a severe warning ?

A 19-year-old man

Except he's not a man apparently, he's a "boy".

Well at least he turned himself in, and with the police that will make a huge difference on what he gets charged with and and jail time too.

I hope his victim is ok.

What a sweet job being a policeman in Japan. Just sit around and wait for the criminals to hand themselves in...!

I meant it's sickening what these three berks did to their victim ..... why do I have to get all the thumbs down ? Did I upset a few people because I got the first post in (shrugs and sighs) ?

Three against one is not a good fight unless your name is Jack Reaper.

@Ewan Huzarmy: What's a 'berk'? LOL!

"The man being kicked in the face by a gang of three"

Those three have no honor.

@the chronic / ranger_miffy

A berk is derived from the expression 'Berkhamstead Hunt' which is an archaic cockney rhyming slang for ...... well , you younglings, you have a lot to learn !

well im glad he turned himself in. I don't know this case personally so i will not make any basis on what I feel. I need more information, but never the less, it takes a lot to confess up to your mistakes and wrongdoings. I pray that he is truly sorry for what he did, and I hope the man in a coma gets better soon and wakes up

Don't you mean Jack Bauer ?

Actually probably meant Jack Reacher.

This is the only way the guilt-driven social conditioning of Japan ever pays off.

A gang of three is different than 3 gang members. Which is it? The guy is probably just some punk who preyed on someone weaker because he had backup. Throw the book at him. Hope the man recovers from his coma, gets well compensated and is able to return to the life he had before the incident.
