Perhaps the Baby doesn't have any Japanese look at all

My son has never had any 'Japanese look', but his Dad is definitely Japanese.

Well from where I sit, that baby is probably the luckiest baby alive. Saved from Japanese nationality. He may stand a better chance of happiness and acceptance elsewhere.

    dracpoo2 -

that baby is probably the luckiest baby aline. Saved from Japanese nationality, He may stand a better chance of happiness and acceptance elsewhere..

Well, in this case, the baby is getting a Filipino passport. You still think the baby is the luckiest??? I somehow don't think so..

I have to agree that neither of my babies have that "Japanese look" too. but hell, dad is Japanese. DNA test welcome anytime.

That baby got hella lucky. No need to have a messed up life by having that undesirable passport anyways.

  • womanforwomen at 11:39 AM JST - 30th October

People should not go to such low levels to solve their financial problems. All these short cuts and quick-fix solutions will lash back in some form; and who knows at what stage of that Filipino childs life will he have to answer to some authorities about the unwise act of his mother. Do things legally no matter what.

parents probably thought it'd be good for the baby, but when the baby grows up and finds out that he/she isn't japanese but parents lied and gave him the nationality, i wonder if the child would appreciate that... in any ways, this isn't the right thing to do.

100& agree with womanforwomen and fishy. It's a really sad story.

Concur with several comments above, got to do right by the law and seek professional legal advice before doing something like this. Marissa Floures Ito thought she could stay in Japan if her kid had a JN passport? Well she must be unaware of the Philippine parents that were deported last year after numerous attempts to stay in Japan because their child was born there. Hope she gets to keep her money, she's going to need it.

Fishy Well, in this case, the baby is getting a Filipino passport. You still think the baby is the luckiest??? I somehow don't think so..

What's wrong with having a Filipino passport????I am a holder of such and very proud.

  • usaexpat at 11:37 PM JST - 30th October

So why didn't they just get married and then the Japanese citizen could petition for his wife's visa and that of his adopted son?

  • Tahoochi at 11:27 AM JST - 31st October

"How bad is it over there, if they are fighting to get a Japanese passport."

"Well from where I sit, that baby is probably the luckiest baby alive. Saved from Japanese nationality. He may stand a better chance of happiness and acceptance elsewhere."

@DRACPOO2 and BCBROWNBOY: I share EVAGANDA's sentiment above... only I have a Japanese passport. What's wrong with being Japanese? Please enlighten me.

  • JpMoonkey at 08:43 PM JST - 31st October

Tahoochi: What's wrong with being Japanese? Please enlighten me. Answer: Even though you have a Japanese passport, the Japanese people still consider you to be a "gai-jin." Is this a Multi-ethnic/cultural society?! evaganda: What's wrong with having a Filipino passport? I am a non-Japanese, and am very proud 'it' too. I'll never forget an advice a foreign priest gave at a conference (religious). He said: don't sell your soul for money. He was a very nice person, died about ten years ago.

Jpmonkey i am questioning Fishy: What's wrong with having a filipino passport??based on the her/his statement. And yes Fishy...the baby will be luckiest if he will have a Filipino passport. We don't kick dead dogs here in the Philippines!

"Even though you have a Japanese passport, the Japanese people still consider you to be a "gai-jin."

I think that should read: Even though you have a Japanese passport, the Japan Today posters still consider you to be a "gai-jin."
