"Business Dispute" is very vague. Again, you can't count out a Yak hit.

"Japanese businessmen"? Sounds more like Japanese pimps. He owned a karaoke bar, and the only karaoke bars I ever saw in Makati were hostess/prozzie hangouts.

"Japanese businessmen" = "Greek businessmen" = "Italian businessmen" Just a polite way of saying you know what.

Good old story of "Japanese biz. men" being shot in the PI? No thanks!

Sounds like a good script for Beat Takashi and Pinoy casting crew.

Why are Filipinos picking all the time on Japanese people? We heard so9mething similar before. What is going on? I think Filipinos believe that money is growing on the trees i9n Japan. Such 'Bandidos' should be nabbed as soon as possible and put behind the bars. Keep far away from motorcyclists. If is not Brazilian in Japan it is Japanese in Filipino

Only one thing out of the ordinary in the above article. The two men were not killed...

A business dispute over drugs or traficked girls would be my guess. Legitimate business deals that go south usually wind up in court not in gun shots in the street.
Good_Jorb at 03:57 AM JST - 25th November
Considering that the Philippines is considered one of the more corrupt countries in the World and the most corrupt in Asia (http://www.worldaudit.org/corruption.htm), it is possible that it was legitimate business gone south or failure to provide protection money or pimps getting "street justice", etc. But then that is the way they roll in third world countries.

There are many Philippinos who have not forgiven the Japanese for WW11. For those, A Japanese might as well have a target on his back.
rjd_jr at 08:54 AM JST - 25th November
No offense, but that's uncalled for kjunluc2. There are plenty of Japanese people that have lived and conducted business in the Phillipines for decades and decades with no problems. The fact that these high profile crimes occur doesn't overlook the fact that most Jp people are safe as per usual. I've never read of or heard of any person in the Phillipines that deliberately murdered a Jp citizen in the Phillipines, in this current day and age, because of WW2. That's not to say that what happened in WW2 is forgotten by Filipinos but please do not insult their intelligence with these kinds of remarks.
Furthermore, all it says is this was a business dispute. The article doesn't even mention the nationality or race of the alleged shooters. So please let us all wait for all facts to emerge before making hasty judgements and accusations. Thanks.
