So, can someone tell me what the punishment in Japan will be for movie pirating? It seems to me that Japan is pretty lax when it comes to copyright protection. I'm guessing that these two will likely only get a slap on the wrist.

Sharing these videos of movies taken in the theater, or telesynch versions, are a bad idea. It's worse than sharing a newly-released DVD movie. The American MPAA closely monitors new Hollywood movies being shared, and now we find out Japan is also cracking down on these movies too.

I've never heard of this software "share" before. Why not use bittorrent?

Hamaura has denied the allegations, saying a computer virus infection led to the file sharing.

Best excuse yet! Even the keystones won't believe this, surely.

Why would you even bother? Harry Potter films are terrible.

Bittirrent is promoted in English in many websites. Japanese use whatever is promoted the most in Japanese.

Saying a computer virus made it look like you were sharing files will actually get you off the hook the first time only.

The penalty for file sharing is your internet subscription will be suspended. The company whose products you were sharing may take civil action against you, but that's about as far as it has gone so far.

I was sure they announced pretty hefty penalties for filming in the theaters when they show the guy with the camera head. Either way, it's a much bigger problem than is portrayed here, I think. Telesync movies are readily available, but the quality is such crap!

The Harry Potter movie had Spanish subtitles, leading investigators to believe it was taken at a theater abroad.

    They're really good investigators...very quick.

That is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. It is hilarious! - I guess these twits have never heard of proxy server.

better than a proxy server, encrypt your hard drive with 128bit encryption and the cops will not break it.

what about watching movies online, like Tiki? Is this illegal? I don't up nor download it, just go to the site and watch, just like you would the news.
