Why didn't they just plea that they didn't know what they were bringing? Life sentence seems a bit harsh for drugs, war on drugs is a joke.

Well, life in jail is probably preferable to the fate of those North Korean drug smugglers that got their boat sunk and ended up drowning while the coast guard watched them a couple of years back.

It's hard to think of more aggravating circumstances - besides the 230kg, the fact that this is basically part of a kind of war being waged by Korea on Japan, that funds Kim Jong Il's rule of terror and starvation over his people.

The South Korean chap should be especially ashamed - they should deport him to South Korea and let the intelligence services there deal with him.

Life for drug smuggling..then compare them with the setences that have been highlighted day in, day out on JT that crazy people have being getting for murder. Dont quite weigh out does it. Too bad they didnt smuggle them in brief case from South Africa.....
