Man, 21, held for killing 60-year-old motorcyclist in hit-and-run

TOKYO —

Police on Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old man for hitting a 60-year-old motorcyclist with his car in Musashimurayama City, Tokyo. Toru Kaneko was arrested for allegedly hitting Tsutomu Kidosaki around 5 a.m. The victim died later in hospital of severe head and chest injuries.

According to police, Kaneko was arrested after he crashed into a truck five minutes after the first incident. Broken parts of his car were found at the scene of the hit-and-run. Kaneko told police he was taking his girlfriend home at the time of his arrest.

    If this guy is an ex-cop he might get a nice suspended-sentence. He didn't make a profit, you know.

    Yes. I would rather have the video, but I have seen enough geriatrics on bicycles early in the morning in Japan to know what kind of antics they pull. Even a lot of the youngsters are guilty, but that is usually more like 12 am to 2 am, rather than at dawn.

    While we cannot say if the old man was at fault or not, we can say that even if he was, Kaneko would still get all the blame in Japan. No wonder they run.

    This guy hit a truck only 5 minutes later...but no mention of being "under the influence" of anything... so does this mean it just can't drive?
