21-year-old woman found strangled on Ehime mountain
EHIME —
The body of a 21-year-old woman was found on a mountain in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture on Sunday, police said Monday. Police identified her as Yoshie Nishiyama and said she had been strangled.
According to police investigations, Nishiyama’s body was found about 10 meters off a mountain road around 1 p.m after her friend reported to police that she had been missing.

I don't think I would want to tell anyone's parents that they are missing. Tell the police and let them mishandle it.

Little more info please, JT. When did her friend report her missing? how did the police magically find her off the road soon after? The way this article is worded it sounds like she called the cops, and then they hopped right to it and found her right away. I doubt it happened like that. How long had she been missing for? Why didn't her parents report her? Who found the body? All it says was that "she was found" but not by who.
Either the police got a report of a missing person, and then lucked out shortly thereafter by somebody else calling in and waking up the guy in koban to tell them they found a body, or the friend is in on it, or at least knows more than the this article lets on.

Even mountains are now wat5ching crimes. It isn't funny, but you wouldn't expect to hear such story right in mountains village. It is strange story about this victim; someone must be visiting her via back door. There could be many reasons to strangle her. Perhaps she wasn't good girl and her boyfriend got upset and lost his marbles.
