Funny, every time I write something threatening on this site, the Mod just deletes it. I've never had any cops show up. Mod... any plans?

And I'd also like to know if anyone actually read Kato's messages. Perhaps he was ignored for being a world-hating loser online as much as he was off line.

Evidently, he posted on a site (the name of which escapes me)which gets over a million or so hits a day. So, basically his posts just got buried under the flow.

I think this kind of action by the police could have a very negative effect and actually encourage these morons to carry out their threats after being detained by the police. It just gives them another reason to hate. I'm sure removing the offensive post and notifying them of its removal would be enough and, even going one step further to prevent them reposting on that site. - I have at least two or three posts removed from JT every week, but that doesn't mean I want revenge - Yet! :)

These kinds of worthless loners would love for the cops to come give them a visit. They should just top themselves off.

I'm worried that the community are not seeing the big picture here. We keep dismissing these people as nuts and losers, when we should be trying to find out and address the reason these people are ending up like this.

Look the bottom line is that there are a lot of people out there who fit the profiles of recent attackers. People who fell through the cracks and became isolated, people who had poor parenting, people left out of economic opportunities and then there is the whole mental health issue for tens of thousands out there.

We write these people off as losers we might as well give the next guy his weapons and set him or her off on the next killing spree. What we need to be doing is accessing who these people are, how we can reach them and what are the societal issues that are creating them in the first place. And we need to address those issues.

We can hide from it, dismiss it, ignore and we invite it to happen again. Or we can talk intelligently about it and get involved to make sure it does not happen again, or at least significantly reduce the chances that more people will be put at risk.

The cops should use these messages to get help for these people, not persecute them. Japan needs to admit her problems and start providing help.

Very true. One of the first big steps in helping disturbed people is to help people realize that mental illness is just as much a type of sickness as so-called respectable ailments such as heart disease or diabetes. Once the social stigma no longer exists, people will more readily seek the treatment they need and deserve.

Here we go. Told ya. The media frenzy about this creep will spawn copycats all over the place. It always does. Time to get some knife-proof underwear?

With most of the readers here on JT, i feel that many of us are concerned with how society itself is just going downhill. Many good points are made from people here, JT- maybe post something on how some of us living in Japan can help make a difference to keep things like this from happening again.
