If you're looking to make a farce with a cast of millions, look no further for an appropriate location. You have arrived.

In addition to the obvious negligence, how could the officers stand the smell? Wouldn't they have had the man change his clothes and wash himself?

  • kinniku at 12:41 PM JST - 5th July

Also, I would like to make my own obvious comment that posters that seem to think negligence is solely a Japanese phenomenon have not traveled nearly enough. It is totally unfair to label this "typically Japanese".

10% pay cut and warning perhaps?

  • European1 at 01:50 PM JST - 5th July

Oh yes, here's a three month pay cut in the making. I wonder if gross negligence causing death is an offense here.

I think cops did nothing because it saves them work. One investigation less.

You can't protect some folks from themselves.

Page seventeen: What to do with a kerosene-soaked man
Step One: Remove kerosene-soaked clothes and matches. Wash clothes. Step Two: Shower suspect and give temporary clothing replacement. Step Three: Take suspect to interrogation.

I'm sure this section has now diligently been added to the manual.

Must be easier to process the paperwork if he's dead.

    Pass the marshmallows.

Ok, that comment was tasteless and wrong, you should be ashamed of yourself...

Having said that, it was also funny as hell.

Funny how nobody considers the other scenario...

"So you won't blow in the tube for us will ya?" - Lights cigarette, flicks it at him, igniting him. "How d'ya like THEM apples?"

  • electric2004 at 11:53 PM JST - 7th July

And, why oh why was there no fire-extinguisher?

I think, every koban should have? Especially in a place, where smoking had been allowed.

"Letting" ? This is really so convenient. These japanese cops are so smart to make it look like pure incompetence when in reality they were quite proactive in 'letting' him burn. Good on ya guys. This is pure talent.
