4 youths arrested for throwing bikes onto expressway

Police in Kawanishi, Hyogo Prefecture, said Thursday they have arrested four youths aged 16 to 19 for throwing two bicycles onto an expressway from an overpass in October. The bikes caused a seven-vehicle pile-up but nobody was injured seriously.

NTV quoted police as saying the four had been charged with attempted murder after their bikes were traced back to them. Police said two of the youths said they did it just for a prank and didn't mean to hurt anyone; one youth said he didn't take part in the prank, while the fourth admitted tossing the bikes off the overpass.

They should throw them off the overpass.

Idiots...and they should be sent to a REAL prison and not some juvenile prison. They should also have to pay for all of the damages they caused

" They should throw them off the overpass."

No, that would be overkill. They should just have bicycles dropped in front of them as they ride their bicycles at full speed. Let them experience the trauma the drivers experienced.

The problem here is the young men have no respect for life. A period of time helping the city coroner might give them that perspective.

I blame those youngsters' parents!

Not only are they idiots for doing such a dangerous, mindless thing but they are stupid for not realising the bikes would be traced back to them. They are under 20 though which equals virtually no punishment.

I'm just glad they were caught.

As for the tracing back to them, I'm surprised it took this long. I'd expect the police to track them down on the same day if they had access to serial numbers on the frame. Is there something missing from the story?

Imagine riding a motorcycle under the over pass the moment these idiots threw the bikes off the bridge, could have been a lot worse lucky it was only 7 cars and no one hurt , I hate to think what could have happened.

People who think the parents are at fault when their kids go mad need a little education on life.

Even if these kids are just kids the parent are not responsible for their actions sheeesh I wish people would realise that what some one else does is not some one else's blame.

"NINETEEN YEARS OLD" is an adult and should be tried as an adult.

14 or 15 years old should be tried as an adult. specially when committing serious crimes that endanger others lives.

Not a d@mned thing will happen to them. Their parents will be paying for a while though.

This is when a good whipping to the butt skin until it bleeds and can not sit for at least a month is needed for them AND their parents whom seem to not care if they kill people or not

They just want new bikes for Christmas....... They can ride around in prison for the rest of their life.

I like ham21's suggestion - having them spend some time helping the city coroner, but only after they do some jail time.

More.... ignorant children trying to get a laugh off of something dangerous.
